In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Kakariko Village serves as a peaceful haven filled with memorable side activities. One of the most famous early-game challenges is the Flown the Coop quest, which tasks Link with locating seven missing feathered companions for a distressed villager named Cado. Finding all of these scattered birds requires a keen eye and a bit of exploration around the village rooftops, gardens, and hidden corners.
Gathering the Easily Accessible Cuccos
Three of the missing birds can be rounded up quickly without needing advanced climbing or navigation skills. You can spot the first stray wandering near the main entrance of the village, right around the bridge that crosses the stream. Another bird frequently rests by the local armor shop, while a third wanders near the goddess statue in the center of town. Tossing these initial birds back into Cado's gated pen gives you an easy head start on completing the objective.
Searching the Rooftops and High Ledges
Finding the rest of the flock requires scaling some of the traditional Sheikah structures in Kakariko Village. One notoriously tricky Cucco has made its way onto the thatched roof of the local clothing boutique, requiring Link to climb up from a nearby hillside to reach it safely. Another bird is positioned on an elevated wooden shelter overlooking the village paths. Grabbing these birds from high places allows you to safely glide back down to the main path using the creature's wings.
Scouting the Gardens and Fields
The remaining birds are tucked away near the agricultural plots where local villagers tend to their daily food crops. You can discover one bird hiding quietly among the plum trees inside Mellie's guarded garden, though you must time your entry carefully to avoid getting scolded during the daytime hours. The final stray hangs around the neighborhood carrot patch on the western side of the village, scratching the dirt near the base of the cliffs. Returning this last runaway completes the set and rewards Link with a valuable Purple Rupee for his diligent tracking efforts.
